Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager

Aviair has operations in some of the most iconic regions of Australia and is looking to appoint a Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager to join our friendly and vibrant team. The Group has offices in Perth, Kununurra and Broome and is one of the leading airlines in the region.

About the Role

The Deputy CAM is responsible for all aspects of continuing airworthiness in the CAM’s absence as outlined below. When not holding the position of CAM, the Deputy CAM shall work side by side with the CAM to ensure aircraft airworthiness and compliance.

The Deputy CAM is responsible for the airworthiness of all aircraft managed under the CAMO. They will be responsible for determining what maintenance is required to be performed and by whom, is carried out on time and to an approved standard. To achieve this they will be responsible for the policy, procedure and regulatory approvals associated with aircraft airworthiness.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Establishment and development of continuing airworthiness policy, including the approval and ongoing amendment of the Aviair Aircraft Maintenance Program.
  • Analysis of the effectiveness of the Aircraft Maintenance Program in accordance with CASR Part 42.160.
  • The relationship with the Part 145 maintenance contractor and establishment of a Maintenance Contract.
  • Approval, by the CASA of the Aviair Pty Ltd Technical Log, required by Part 42.220, including any subsequent amendment thereto.
  • Airworthiness Directive review and embodiment.
  • Management of the Aircraft Reliability Program.
  • The amendment and control of the Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition.
  • Liaise with all stakeholders as required to maintain safe and compliant fleet.
  • Ensuring that Aviair Pty Ltd technical and usage records are kept as required as well as ensuring maintenance control software is updated in line with maintenance carried out and changes to the maintenance program
  • Maintenance forecasting, planning and follow up and technical follow up
  • That the Airworthiness Review for each aeroplane operated by the company remains valid in respect of the airworthiness of the aeroplane, the expiry date specified on the Certificate, and any other condition specified in the Certificate.
  • Reporting any occurrences of a maintenance nature to the CASA and the aircraft manufacturers.
  • That Aviair Pty Ltd pilots are duly trained and authorised to carry out approved maintenance, where necessary and appropriate.
  • Other duties as reasonably directed by Management.

This is a full-time opportunity to be based in our Perth office. The successful candidate will be asked to complete a satisfactory National Police Check and Drug and Alcohol Test prior to commencement.

To Be Successful in This Role

The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork. This role will involve travel to the various bases, require the flexibility to work across different time zones and the following:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the CAMO exposition and CASA, EASA and FAA legislation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant areas of the operations manual.
  • Experience in the development of maintenance programs and reliability program management.
  • Experience in management of airworthiness reviews.
  • Specific technical knowledge of the fleet aircraft managed by the CAMO.
  • Experience with introduction into service of aircraft including technical and commercial aspects of aircraft leasing.
  • High aptitude with CMMS and MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently with project management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Focus on delivering timely and quality services to internal team members.
  • Ability to obtain and hold an ASIC.
  • Hold or have held an AME licence and/or meet the requirements applicable to a Continuing Airworthiness Manager as defined by the Part 42 MOS.
