Employee Relations Manager

The Opportunity

As an experienced Employee Relations Advisor, you will be an integral part of the Corporate HR team, as well as the Heads of HR of the two Business Units, Regional Service and Special Mission.  You will work across all levels of management, and partner closely with external stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored advice, coaching and support on workplace relations matters, including modern awards, Enterprise Agreements, Fair Work legislation and Policy interpretation
  • Sensitively manage the relationship with unions and delegates, interacting on key issues with tact and diplomacy
  • Negotiate Enterprise Agreements
  • Conduct internal investigations for grievance matters and mediations as required
  • Professionally represent Cobham at the Fair Work Commission, conciliations, meetings and negotiations with unions
  • Assist in the review and maintenance of HR policies and procedures to ensure best practice and compliance with industrial and legislative obligations
  • Build leader capability through the development and facilitation of training and workshops on employee relations matters
  • Provide monthly reports to the CHRO on grievance metrics, identifying trends to inform future initiatives and development
  • Collaborate and network with key stakeholders so as to be informed and involved on key issues and relevant topics
  • Monitor changes or development in relevant legislation, regulations and standards

Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated relevant experience in human resources, labour law, workplace relations or similar
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply regulatory requirements, awards and workplace agreements
  • Experience in negotiating Enterprise Agreements
  • Proactive and contemporary approach to managing complex employee and industrial relations matters
  • Ability to facilitate in-house mediations, investigations and effectively resolve employee disputes
  • Commitment to customer service
