Nexus Airlines is currently seeking a highly skilled Base & Operations Manager to join our growing team based in Broome.

About the role

As the Base & Operations Manager you will lead the safe and efficient operations team, whilst striving for industry best practice in all operations involving flights, airport operations, third party suppliers, and reservations service personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining a consistently high level of customer service and adherence to all company policies and procedures and other regulatory obligations. Actively work as part of the broader Aviair and Nexus Airlines Operations management team.

 

Key duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Responsible for the efficient running of daily operations, as well as the management of the department and team to ensure the strategic objectives and operational requirements of Aviair and Nexus operations are achieved, including participation in a rotating on-call roster outside of standard business hours.
  • Maintain oversight and management of the day-to-day operations, including flight scheduling and tail assignments, disruption management, flight tracking, crew requirements and rostering.
  • Actively participate in recruitment, training and induction of all new employees and ensure ongoing mentoring and development of employees.
  • Promote and lead a positive and supportive workplace across the base including working co-operatively with other departments such as Flight Operations, AMO and CAMO.
  • Establish a culture that promotes customer loyalty by creating an environment of increased employee engagement using customer feedback to constantly develop and improve capabilities and processes.
  • Actively promote a strong safety mindset across the base.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance under relevant legislation by all parties, implementation and upkeep and development of operation control centres procedures and manuals and training. Actively participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Manage aircraft schedules taking into consideration planned and unscheduled maintenance requirements and in consultation with the CAMO.
  • Strong collaboration with all other relevant management and stake holders to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant practices in all aspects of flight operations.

  • Ensure contracted client requirements and standards are upheld and undertake associated reporting activities as required.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of competition to include selling points, product offerings and pricing and remain locally competitive by acquaintance with market conditions.
  • Drive efficiencies in the operation to deliver profitable performance and assist in the development of new revenue streams through the maintenance of strong relationships with tour companies and agents.

 

To be successful in this role:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within aviation or the airline industry is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours with rotating shifts and after-hours work.
  • Expert computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and systems such as Air Meastro, Takeflite, Harmony Metron.
  • Good working knowledge of OH&S, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and aviation industry standards. In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations and the ability to uphold a strong safety culture.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating operations team to achieve high performing outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Organisational skills to manage rostering, task allocation, and multiple operational priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a focus on safety and quality.
  • Ability to obtain and hold an ASIC
  • Hold a current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Valid Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate or ability to obtain one.
