Introduction

The Regional Aviation Association of Australia (RAAA) is aware that the cost associated to entering the aviation industry can be a burden to students and apprentices. To enphasise the importance of new technical people entering the regional aviation industry we have arranged partnerships with member organisations to award scholarships to individuals meeting the criteria to assist them completing or advancing their studies.

The RAAA apprentice/LAME Scholarships are intended to assist in the training or advancement of current and future aircraft engineers in regional Australia undergoing training or working in the Australian aviation industry.

The following apprentice/LAME scholarships are available through the RAAA:

RAAA Hawker Pacific Avionics Scholarship

Funded by Hawker Pacific Pty Ltd with a value of $5,000, it is intended that one (1) scholarship will be awarded as encouragement to the continuing education of a promising Aircraft Maintenance Engineer who has demonstrated a commitment to the aviation industry. Funds are to be used to assist the recipient to attend the annual Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) International Convention and Trade Show held in the USA.

RAAA Jeppesen Avionics Scholarship

Funded by Jeppesen Australia through the Jeppesen Aviation Foundation with a value of $7,500, it is intended that one (1) scholarship will be awarded as encouragement to the continuing education of a promising Aircraft Maintenance Engineer who has demonstrated a commitment to the aviation industry. The scholarship winners will be announced during the RAAA National Convention and funds may be used to assist with meeting the cost of studies, books and materials, or for accommodation and travel expenses directly related to attending the course.

RAAA Bankstown Airport Limited Women in Aviation Assistance Scholarship

Funded by Bankstown Airport Limited in partnership with BASAIR Aviation College with a value of over $3000, this scholarship will allow five (5) young women to each undergo two (2) introductory flights with BASAIR. This will then be accompanied by two days on site with the Airport Management Team, learning about the compliance, operations, aviation safety and contractor management at the Airport.
