General Manager – Maintenance

The HMC Group has extensive aviation, tourism and accommodation operations in some of the most iconic regions of Australia and is seeking a General Manager – Maintenance (Accountable Manager Part 145 Operations) to oversee Aviair and Nexus Airlines.

About the role          

The General Manager – Maintenance is responsible for the overall standards across the AMO (Part 121 and Part 145) including quality, performance, safety and financial Management.

Key duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Maintenance Coordination:

  • Responsible for the coordination of aircraft maintenance as required and for ensuring there is clear communication with all relevant parties impacted.
  • Ensure all maintenance functions are conducted in accordance with appropriate safety directives and other applicable requirements.

Inventory Management: 

  • Provide subject matter expertise in all matters relating to engineering, spares and tooling.
  • Ensure that regular stocktakes occur across all bases and accurate inventory records are maintained, and discrepancies identified are immediately reported.

Regulatory Compliance: 

  • Liaise with the Safety and Quality Department to ensure the Group Audit program is appropriate to determine that suppliers, contractors and subcontractors are meeting acceptable maintenance and regulatory standards.

Safety Focus: 

  • Actively promote a workplace that adheres to the principles of a “Just Culture” and encourage employees to report all safety incidents.
  • Ensure all applicable safety and quality occurrence reports are reviewed and actioned, and any corrective and preventative action implemented.

People Management: 

  • Responsible people management from the perspective of fostering a positive and safe work environment, rostering according to best practices, and maintaining appropriate staff levels including active participation in recruitment processes.
  • Manage all department training and development requirements including a focus on the development of strategy for increasing apprentice numbers.

Financial Management:

  • In collaboration with the Finance department prepare annual and long-term budgets for general aircraft maintenance, CAPEX and human resource requirements.
  • Monitor and report on expenditure versus budget and responsible for invoicing of work completed on externally owned aircraft.

 

To be successful in this role

  • Possess the necessary experience to hold the Accountable Manager position for CASA Part 145 Maintenance organisation.
  • A minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate employees located across various bases throughout the state.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including Word and Excel and ability to quickly adapt to new programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a current ASIC.
  • Hold a current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Ability to travel domestically (largely within WA) as required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
